New Police Headquarters Open House

By Bradley Koltz

Bethel First Selectman Matt Knickerbocker and Police Chief Jeffrey Finch were joined by Selectman Richard Straiton, previous First Selectman Alice Hutchinson, State Representative-elect Raghib Ailee-Brennan and an overflow crowd at the new Police Headquarters for the opening ceremony and Open House on Saturday, Nov. 10.

First Selectman Knickerbocker noted that the open house was almost 20 years from the initial discussions by his predecessors on the need for a new police headquarters.

Tours were offered of the new facility that houses the new state of the art dispatch for all 911 calls for police, fire and EMS, and more comfortable accommodations and up to date policing technology for the Town's police force, such as a roomy locker-room, break room and gym.

The force is currently using firing range facilities in Southbury until the new firing range is completed.
