Atheist banner unveiled at PT Barnum Square

By Bradley Koltz, Published Dec. 16, 2018 11:20 a.m.

In a light rain at 10 a.m. on Sunday, December 16, about two dozen supports attended the unveiling of the atheist banner at P.T. Barnum Square.

Town resident James Naddeo oversaw the setup prior to the unveiling earlier in the morning.

Just before 10, the crowd of supporters began to assemble at the square.

The speakers discussed the fight to erect the banner and thanked First Selectman Knickerbocker and the Board of Selectmen for allowing the banner without a legal fight that they said "we would surely have won."

The event was not widely publicized, and lacked the cameras of local television stations that had covered the approval process.

Complete coverage will be in the December 22 issue of The Bethel Community Gazette.
