Atheist Banner Dedication At P.T. Barnum Square

In a light rain at 10 a.m. on Sunday, December 16, about two dozen supports attended the unveiling of the atheist banner at P.T. Barnum Square.

Town resident James Naddeo oversaw the setup prior to the unveiling earlier in the morning and introduced the speakers.

Just before 10 a.m., the crowd of supporters began to assemble at the square.

The speeches touched on the fight to erect the banner and thanked First Selectman Knickerbocker and the Board of Selectmen for allowing the banner without a legal fight that they said "we would surely have won."

The event was not widely publicized, and lacked the cameras of local television stations that had covered the approval process.
