Library News
Now that you've put away your winter coat, you are ready to spring into action! There are plenty of places to explore, and the Bethel Public Library should be your first stop before you set out.

Thanks to the Friends of the Library, your Bethel Library card is your passport to free or reduced admission at almost two dozen venues, from art and children's museums, to nature centers, zoos, and cultural sites.

Families with young children who visit The Children's Museum in West Hartford can get one free admission with each paid admission (up to four per day). A bit closer to home is EverWonder Children's Museum in Newtown, where two adults and up to four children get 50% off admission.

All ages can enjoy a close-up view of three centuries of American masterpieces at the New Britain Museum of American Art. The library pass is good for up to four free admissions.

Contemporary art appreciation is cultivated at the Aldrich in nearby Ridgefield, where a pass entitles free admission for up to five adults. Then step way back in time—to the age of the dinosaurs!—at the Peabody Museum in New Haven, and get $6 off up to four tickets.

But wait there's more! The Library also has passes to both the Maritime and Mystic aquariums, the Beardsley Zoo, White Memorial Conservation Center and Nature Museum, and the Institute for American Indian Studies.

So how do you get your passport to adventure? Simply present your valid library card at the Circulation Desk, and ask if the pass you want is available! If you wait till the day of, it may not be, so we allow passes to be reserved in advance. The loan period is 3 consecutive days, and overdue fees are $1.00 a day (there is an additional fee if the pass or its envelope is lost). More information is available in the Library and at It's a good idea to check out the venue's website, too, before you make your plans, so you can confirm hours of operation and get the latest news on special exhibits and events. If you need any more information, please feel free to contact the Circulation Desk at 203-794-8756 x3.
